Being the first generation in my family to be born in Canada, I have always felt detached from my family’s history. The stories I heard about my ancestors informed who I am; these memories, created by others before me, became an extension of my own. Methodically retracing these remnants of memory, breathing into empty spaces is a manifestation of an ephemeral experience. In the act of tethering myself to a history of which I felt detached, I build on connection and create the kinship I longed for.
